A 49-year-old driver is facing a pair of charges after a recent hit and run incident at the intersection of Wellington Street East and John Street.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, a crash involving a pickup truck striking another vehicle was reported through 911.

Police say an investigation revealed that the pickup truck that caused the crash was driving at a high rate of speed, drove through a red light, hit the other vehicle, and drove away.

No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

Police confirmed the owner of the vehicle and, on Wednesday at around 5 p.m., the accused was arrested and charged.

Philip Renner is facing charges of dangerous operation and failure to stop after an accident.

Renner was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on May 5.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
