A 31-year-old is facing multiple charges after Sault Police say they arrested a person who ran from the basement window of a vacant house on Pim Street.

Officers were called to the home, in the 300 block of Pim Street, at around 4:20 p.m. Saturday.

Police say they were able to catch the suspect and place them under arrest.

“A subsequent search found the accused to be in possession of a knife, multiple break-in tools, and a piece of mail not belonging to them,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Dakota Cole, 31, is charged with:

  • Break and Enter – Intent to Commit Indictable Offence
  • Possession of Break-In Instruments
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of Article Stolen from Mail
  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking

The accused was held in custody pending a hearing in Weekend and Statutory Holiday Court and was released on bail.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Cole is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
