On Thursday, Sault Police officers charged a 65-year-old man with assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate, or strangle.

At around 2:50 p.m., a 911 caller reported an assault outside a business in the 400 block of Bruce Street.

“An investigation revealed the victim was exiting a parking spot when the suspect—later identified as the accused—began yelling at them,” police said in a release.

“The accused then got out of their vehicle, reached into the victim’s vehicle, and strangled them. The victim sustained minor physical injuries. The victim and the accused are unknown to one another.”

J.R. Jeanveau was arrested at his residence. He is charged with assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate, or strangle.

Jeanveau was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on March 31.
