On Wednesday, Sault Ste. Marie Police officers charged a 30-year-old woman with theft over $5,000, theft of a credit card, and several other offences.
At around 8 a.m., a 911 caller reported someone using a stolen credit card at a business in the 200 block of Second Line West, police said in a news release.
“An investigation revealed the accused had stolen the credit card of someone known to them and used it to purchase approximately $7,100 in goods from the business. They were arrested,” police said.
Rilee Bychko was charged with:
- Theft of Credit Card
- Theft Over $5,000
- Failure to Attend for Fingerprints as Per Undertaking
- Failure to Attend Court After Having Appeared
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 20, 2025.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Bychko is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
