27-year-old accused of depositing paycheques twice

Police say the amount stolen from the employer was more than $2,700

Sault Ste. Marie Police have accused a 27-year-old of depositing their paycheques twice.

Police say it happened in April of 2023. They received a report on September 13, 2024.

“The investigation revealed the accused had re-deposited paycheques, which they had already deposited into their account on previous dates,” police alleged in a news release.

Police say the amount stolen from the employer was more than $2,700.

A suspect turned themself in yesterday.

Devin Lewis has been charged with:

  • Fraud – Under $5,000
  • Theft – Under $5,000

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
