Last Wednesday, officers with the Sault Police Service charged a local 15-year-old with assault.
Around 10:30 p.m., 911 communicators received a report of an assault outside a business in the 600 block of Second Line West.
Officers were dispatched to the area. Police say the accused youth had put a victim who is known to them in a chokehold and refused to let them go. They were arrested and charged with assault. The accused youth was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 24.
On Friday, officers with Patrol Services charged the same 15-year-old youth with assault with a weapon.
Around 12:20 p.m., 911 communicators received a report of an assault in the 600 block of Second Line West, which had occurred on Wednesday. An investigation revealed the accused youth had [allegedly] thrown a stick which was on fire at an adult who is known to them.
The victim did not sustain physical injuries. Officers attended the accused’s residence, and the individual was arrested. The accused youth is charged with assault with a weapon.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 24.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
