Fill it up! We'll cover your gas

What could be a better surprise at the pump than having someone else pay for your gas? Thanks to our friends at McDougall Energy, SooToday's Jasmyn Rowley was able to do just that for a number of lucky random community members looking to fill up at a local gas station. If you've been to WalMart on Great Northern Road over the past couple of weeks, there is a good chance you've seen Joe Swystun selling poppies to raise funds in support of Veterans and their families. Joe is described as having a passion for his work with the Legion and the poppy campaign, so we decided to surprise him with some gifts from an anonymous sponsor.

Comfort food and good company make a winning combination for the popular downtown eatery, Mike's Lunch. The local spot offers up homemade dishes with a side of conversation, making it a favourite for regulars and newcomers alike.

On today's What's Your Dish, SooToday cameras stop by Mike's Lunch to chat with owner Darlene Sawer, and see how she makes one of her signature dishes: the hamburger poutine.

Here's why they closed the boardwalk this afternoon
