VIDEO: Jumpstart ensures all kids are equipped to play

The Canadian Tire Jumpstart program has helped hundreds of children in our city participate in sports, regardless of any financial barriers they may face. Just this week, the local retailer delivered an activity kit full of equipment for area kids involved in YMCA programs to use.

SooToday's Jasmyn Rowley stopped by the YMCA, which is the lead agency for the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program in Sault Ste. Marie, to check out the new equipment donated by our local store.

The program is available for anyone in the community in financial need to apply for, and the YMCA can help families apply for this program, as well as additional funding they have available for similar projects, that can help significantly reduce the cost paid out-of-pocket for children's activities, to ensure they have the same chance as their neighbours or classmates to try a new sport or continue with one they love.
