Sophie Pazdrak was concentrating on getting to the bottom faster than her friend Erica Peres as she sped down the hill at Searchmont Resort on New Year’s Eve.

Pazdrak was no longer thinking about how odd it was that Peres had cajoled her into her gear and out of the chalet for one more run down the hill.

“I was really focused. Zoned right in,” recalled the 24-year-old.

Then Pazdrak raised her head and it all fell into place: There was her dog, Holly. And a giant sign with her name on it.

And her boyfriend of five years, Dan Nogalo.

What happens next, was caught in the video above.

Long story short, she said yes and the couple plan to be wed in two years, on New Year’s Eve, 2016.

Pazdrak and Nogalo had rented a chalet at Searchmont to ring in the New Year with friends. Unbeknownst to Pazdrak, Nogalo had arranged to have friends and both their parents there to witness the big moment.

“I really did not think he could pull something like this off,” laughed Pazdrak. “I usually sniff out anything he has planned.”

Pazdrak said the proposal came after about six months of none-too-subtle hints that she wanted to “be engaged already.”

“It was worth the wait,” she said.
