SooToday asked each of the candidates to submit a bio to introduce themselves to voters. Meet Ward 5 candidate Matthew Scott:
I was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario where I have lived for over 30 years. I attended Bay View Public School, Korah Collegiate, and Algoma University, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
I currently live with my wife, Marina Tombari and our miniature goldendoodle, Stuart. We are all lifelong residents of Ward 5 (formerly Ward 6).
I work at Sault Area Hospital as a Data Analyst in the Decision Support department where I do statistical analysis on many different sets of data providing information to management, physicians, and clinical staff. Currently I am leading a team on the regional ONE project which aims to have a single patient record across multiple hospitals. (More info here http://one.sah.on.ca)
While attending Algoma University I was the founder of many different clubs and was elected to the Algoma University Student Union board as Special Events Coordinator. I am currently serving as the Treasurer for the Sault Ste. Marie Museum board.
I have been interested in local politics from a young age after finding out that my grandfather, Joe Wierzbicki, was a Ward 6 Councillor in the 60’s. This interest grew throughout my life and has lead me down the path of running for City Council myself.
I am hoping to restore community pride in not only Ward 5, but the entire City of Sault Ste. Marie. I will be transparent, inclusive, and fair with all issues while maintaining a facts first approach.
