Many will recognize Minelli’s Take-Out for their delicious home-made, authentic Italian food. It’s a legacy that has been handed down for multiple generations. It’s not just about the recipes perfected from the start when brothers Marco and Dario Minelli moved to Canada in the 1950s.
It was Julie and Siro Minelli who became the sole owners of its Great Northern Road location in 1980, then moved to the current location in the Pine Street Plaza a few doors from the Food Basics grocery store, continuing the tradition of making authentic Italian food.
“Siro’s passing last year, while devastating, will not stop our family from carrying on the proud tradition of making authentic Italian food. In fact, it was a wish of Siro’s that we continue his family’s tradition,” says Julie Minelli, “above everything else, Minelli’s name and products represent quality without compromise where most products are produced on the premises from our treasured family recipes with pride.”
All of Minelli’s menu items are made in-house. From fresh homemade lasagna, ravioli (meat or cheese), gnocchi, fettuccine, cappelletti, meatballs, soup noodles, sauces and broths, and so much more. “We use no preservatives and only fresh, never frozen meat and local fresh eggs to make the pasta.”
What’s next for Minelli’s Take-Out?
While it’s been a challenge to adapt to restaurant life without her husband, Julie Minelli plans to continue the legacy, remaining true to the wishes and dreams of the Minelli family.
“In the wake of tragedy, we're holding strong and moving forward with pride. We're honored to be able to continue providing first-rate service to our customers and keep the original spirit of this family business alive,” says Julie.
When it comes to future plans for Minelli's Take-Out, the Minelli family is currently working to create a new and better future for the business. Their kind and loyal customers are always welcome to place an order, and they have no plans to change their beloved menu items or the way they make them.
