“Flu shots are extremely important, especially for those who are more susceptible to infections resulting from the flu virus. Everyone is encouraged to get their flu shot to protect themselves and their loved ones,” says Dave and Niall.
Who Should Get a Flu Shot?
According to Health Canada, anyone who is over 6 months old should get a flu shot this fall in order to protect themselves and those around them.
Some individuals are at higher risk of developing serious complications from the flu, including those with certain health conditions including immune compromising conditions, diabetes, heart and/or lung disease, anemia, obesity, and kidney disease. People who are older than 65 as well as children under 5 years old are also at a higher risk as are individuals who are pregnant or living in long-term care facilities.
Not only do those at high risk need to get the flu shot, but those who are in contact with them should also get vaccinated. Getting an annual flu shot helps to keep the whole community healthier. It can also help you to avoid the discomfort and downtime required to recover from the illness.

“This location offers one stop shopping where you can pick up groceries at Pino’s Get Fresh and then venture over to the pharmacy for your flu shot. It only takes a few minutes,” according to Niall.
Appointments are encouraged; however, the helpful staff tries to accommodate walk-ins as long as they have the vaccine in stock and an injection trained pharmacist or nurse on-site.
