All of the members of the team at Northern Dental Care take pride in being part of their community. And by that, they mean all of their community.
Northern Dental Care gets involved with and supports many local events and partnerships. “We are a Platinum Sponsor for the Rotary Festival’s inflatable park,” said Melissa Loxton of Northern Dental Care. “It’s three days of fun and exercise for the whole family.”
“We are also supporters of Algoma Autism Foundation’s trunk or treat event. In 2022 we raised $7500 for St. Vincent, as well as donating oral hygiene products and food items,” she continued.
Northern Dental Care is very involved with the Algoma Autism Foundation. “We were selected to be the recipient of a grant to bring sensory friendly toys, visual aids and systems for non-verbal clients to our practice,” said Loxton. “We are renovating our waiting/playroom in a more sensory-friendly way, and have incorporate iPads and visual aids to not only help us communicate with these clients but to provide a better experience for our patients. This will help us support all of our clients and all of their needs.”
The practice’s community involvement helps to reach anyone who could benefit from dental hygiene and oral care. Involvement in the community means they can educate the public in regard to programs available which may financially assist individuals with raising costs of dental care.
“There are several government programs to help vulnerable populations,” said Loxton. “There’s the Healthy Smiles program for kids, and emergency services that can be accessed,” she added.
“We are a completely inclusive office,” emphasized Loxton. “We are family and kid friendly; we work with the neurodiverse. We work with the vulnerable. We work with lots of people who are anxious about the dentist. We can do twilight sedation or even full general anesthesia, in house. We want to make your dental experience a positive one.
