A local father-son duo is carrying on a legal legacy that spans over five decades. Anthony J. Orazietti, who joined his father in practice, offers a unique perspective on the evolving landscape of law and the importance of community engagement.

The Orazietti & Orazietti Law Firm has been a fixture in the legal community since the 1980s.

The senior Orazietti, called to the bar in 1970, spent his early career in the Crown Attorney's office before transitioning to private practice. Anthony, following in his father's footsteps, was called to the bar in 2017.

For the younger Orazietti, the path to law seemed almost predestined.

"I always found it interesting," he reminisces. "I remember going to the courthouse with dad and spending time in his office."

These early experiences sparked a passion that would eventually lead him to join the family practice.

As practitioners of criminal law, the Oraziettis are committed to providing the highest quality of service to their clients. Anthony emphasizes the importance of focused attention in their line of work.

"Criminal law is a very serious matter, and we take it seriously," he states. "While clients may sometimes need to wait for a callback or email reply, it's to ensure we can give each case the full attention it deserves."

One of Anthony's missions is to educate the public about their rights and obligations, including when it comes to traffic laws. He points out a little-known fact, "Most people are unaware that they can be pulled over at random and asked to provide a breath sample into an 'assisted screening device' without any grounds or cause. This power, granted to officers through recent amendments to the Criminal Code, often comes as a surprise to motorists.”

Anthony stresses the importance of seeking legal counsel and never making assumptions about one's rights or obligations.

"Each province has different variations of what we have in Ontario's Highway Traffic Act," he explains. "It's crucial to understand the specific laws that apply to you."

Beyond their legal practice, the Oraziettis are deeply committed to giving back to their community. They regularly sponsor the Steelworkers annual charity golf tournament, which raises money for the Twinkie Foundation. They've also supported other local causes, including the cycling club. For Anthony, this community engagement is a natural extension of practicing law in a close-knit area.

"We're part of a small community," he says. "I think giving back when you're able to is very important."

As Orazietti & Orazietti Law Firm continues to serve the region, they remain dedicated to upholding the highest standards of legal practice while fostering strong community ties. It's a balance that has served them well for decades and promises to carry them into the future.
