Students from Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma District experienced outdoor exercise, winter fun and camaraderie at the annual Action for Building a Community that is Drug-Free Bon Soo Winter Olympics held outside The Machine Shop on Tuesday.
The games included secondary school students from White Pines Collegiate, Superior Heights Collegiate, Korah Collegiate, Chapleau (JK-12) Public School, Elliot Lake (7-12) Secondary School, Central Algoma Secondary School (CASS), W.C. Eaket Secondary School, Michipicoten High School as well as St. Mary's College and the French language École Notre-Dame-Du-Sault.
Activities included snow sled races, snow soccer, a tug of war, obstacle course, a Teddy Bear toss, Giant Jenga, Kan Jam, Tchoukball and a Tic-tac-toe relay.
The day included opening ceremonies, two rounds of athletic activity and games divided by a lunch period, a school mascot dance and closing ceremonies.
As in past years, each high school was competing for bragging rights, medals and a trophy.
