Cyclists of all ages are enjoying a sunny afternoon at the Esposito Park Pump Track as this year's Bike to Work Week initiative kicks off today.
Facilitated by the Sault Cycling Club, Algoma Public Health, as well as the city, the week-long event encourages residents to leave their cars at home and walk, cycle, carpool, take transit, or telecommute.
Whether it's picking up groceries, going to school, or heading into the office, the cycling club encourages locals to hop on their bikes and utilize the Hub Trail and other cycle-friendly areas around town.
Cyclists are invited to enjoy music, food, and other events at the Esposito Park Pump Track until 2 p.m. this afternoon.
The remaining events on the Bike to Work Week schedule includes:
- June 2: Workout Ride or Exercise Bike
- June 3: Cycling Without Age programming
- June 4: Bike repair workshop at Algoma Bikes (registration required)
- June 5: Bike to School Day
- June 6: After Work Cycling Social at the Downtown Plaza (4 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
- June 7/8: Try a Sport Day
