Break In

A Gran Street resident returned home from an enjoyable two weeks in southern Ontario only to discover that some scalawag had been in the home during their absence. It is a safe bet to assume that visitors had not been their for wholesome purposes. The resident has discovered that an assortment of costume jewelry along with a pair of diamond earrings and a diamond necklace are missing. Total value of the missing items is a few hundred dollars. There was no sign of forced entry to the residence and nothing else appears to have been taken by the intruders. The Batchewana First Nation Police Service is continuing the investigation.

Mischief

Another incident occurring in an area serviced by Batchewana first Nation Police has resulted in a Sault Ste. Marie man being charged with mischief. A heated argument at a residence on Old Garden River Road ended with the man exiting the residence. As we are taught when we are young, ‘ CLOSE THE DOOR BEHIND YOU’, the man made sure this was done. Unfortunately he was a tad over-exuberant in his efforts to complete the task and the door and doorframe suffered greatly from his efforts. Shawn Timothy TRAHAN, 42, of Sault Ste. Marie was arrested at the scene and released later on a Promise to Appear. He is scheduled to appear in court on the 26th of October.

Assault

Police were advised of a domestic assault that occurred in the Maki Lake road area. A male and female had a disagreement and the female decided to leave. In the course of leaving it is alleged that she grabbed the male by the throat and put him up against the wall. A 55 year old female has summoned to court for the 9th of November.

Seatbelt Reminder

It is the fall season and we would be remiss if we did not remind you that our seatbelt campaign is in full swing. We take no pleasure in writing you a ticket for not wearing your seatbelt, so please, put a smile on a police officers face by wearing yours. While you are at it put an even bigger grin on the ‘blue suiters’ visage by making sure that your children are securely buckled up for any automobile trips where they accompany you. Happy motoring!
