GUNS STOLEN FROM RESIDENCE (Elliot Lake, Ontario) – The OPP is currently investigating a Break Enter and Theft at a residence on Roman Avenue in Elliot Lake.

GUNS STOLEN FROM RESIDENCE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – The OPP is currently investigating a Break Enter and Theft at a residence on Roman Avenue in Elliot Lake.

Sometime between August 27, 2012 and September 3, 2012 unknown person(s) entered the residence while the homeowners were away. Through investigation police learned that entry was gained through a window and the house was searched.

Stolen from the residence were three (3) guns and several boxes of mixed ammunition- 306, 22’s and 12’s. The missing guns are:

One Bolt Action Rifle - 22 calibre

One Pump Action 12GA Shotgun

One Semi-automatic Remington Rifle 30-06

Also taken was alcohol, jewellery, a Fire Proof Safe with personal documents and cash.

The following is a list of some of the stolen items;

  • 21 Speed White Mountain Bicycle

  • Wrist Watches

  • Gold Dinner Cluster Ring

  • Gold Pearl Ring

  • Gold Pocket Watch

  • Several gold necklaces

  • Several Gold Earrings

TWO MORE ANIMAL COLLISIONS REPORTED

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) OPP investigated two single motor vehicle collisions involving deer within the past 24 hours.

At 9:30 pm yesterday evening a car collided with a deer in Laird Township on Highway 17 East near Pumpkin Point Road.

At 5:30 am this morning a deer collided with an SUV on Highway 17 North in Fenwick Township.

No injuries were reported and both vehicles received minor damage and now towing was required.

Six motor vehicle collisions involving wildlife on the highway have been investigated within the past week.

If you spot a wildlife sign on the side of the highway, slow down and proceed with caution, especially at night. Expect a surprise, animals are unpredictable.

HELICOPTER LANDS ON HIGHWAY

(Montreal Mining Co., Twp.,) - Sault Ste. Marie OPP responded to a medical assistance call yesterday at approximately 12:20 pm.

The patient had been on a train when a life-threatening condition occurred.

The patient that was transported out of the bush area to the Highway by paramedics and had to be air-lifted to hospital.

The evacation site For ORNGE (Air Ambulance) to land was inoperable and Highway 17 North near Montreal River had to be shut down by OPP for approximately 30 minutes to ensure the safe transfer of the patient.
