Thousands of dollars in stolen property gone from thefts

Echo Bay, Ont. - Sault Ste Marie OPP are investigating six separate reports of thieves entering vehicles and garages overnight in the Echo Bay area.

Sometime during the darkened hours of Monday night and Tuesday morning, thieves entered unlocked vehicles and garages at six homes.

In one circumstance a service vehicle, which was parked at a house, was entered and over $10,000 in tools and computer equipment was removed from the vehicle.

Victims are reporting stolen identification, cheque books, wallets and credit cards, health cards and other assorted items taken from their vehicles.

One victim advised police that two twenty-one speed bikes were stolen from his garage.

Another victim did find her stolen purse however it was emptied of all its contents and was found thrown in a ditch.

If you saw or heard anyone skulking around the Echo Bay area on Monday night and into Tuesday morning the OPP, as well as the victims of these thefts, would like you to hear from you.
