(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – The East Algoma OPP has charged a local female after receiving a call of a possible impaired driver on Paris Drive in Elliot Lake.

November 12, 2012 police attended the area at approximately 9:30 p.m. and through investigation arrested the suspect.

Charged with the following is Lillian Juul MAUKONEN (60) of Elliot Lake.

  • Impaired Operation
  • Over 80

The accused is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on January 8, 2013.

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – On November 10th, 2012 at approximately 3:18 a.m. officers of the East Algoma OPP were dispatched to a residence on Laurier Road in Elliot Lake regarding a possible impaired driver which may have been involved in a motor vehicle collision.

Police attended the area and through investigation charged one male.  Charged with the following is Jonathan CLARKE (26) of Kapuskasing, Ontario.

  • Impaired Operation
  • Exceed 80

The accused is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on January 8, 2013.

LOCK IT OR LOSE IT!      

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – The East Algoma OPP would like to remind all citizens to lock your vehicle at all times.  A vehicle with an unlocked door or an open window is an easy target.

November 12, 2012 police received a call to attend a residence on Rome Court in Elliot Lake.  The owner reports that sometime between 10:00 p.m. November 11, 2012 and 7:00 a.m. November 12, 2012 unknown person(s) entered an unlock vehicle and removed a Garmin Nuvi Blue Tooth GPS and cash from a purse left in the vehicle.

VANDALS DAMAGE LOCAL CHURCH

(WAWA, ON) – On November 11, 2012 Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment were advised the Wawa Baptist Church in Michipicoten River Village had been broken into sometime over the past week.  Once inside the vandals did extensive damage to the inside of the church including breaking numerous dishes and setting off a fire extinguisher.  A Scenes of Crime Officer was called the scene to collect evidence of the crime.  At this time OPP continue to investigate and are requesting that anyone with any information is requested to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.

VEHICLE STOP RESULTS IN WARRANT EXECUTION

(WHITE RIVER, ON)  - On November 11, 2012 in Hunt Township on Highway 17 near White River the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting radar patrol.  A vehicle was stopped for speeding, the driver, George HANDORGAN of Kenora, Ontario provided a valid Ontario Driver’s License.  A record check revealed that he was on conditions to remain within the North West Region.  As a result the accused was arrested for Breach of Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Wawa Criminal Court on January 14, 2013.

YOUTH CHARGED WITH ASSAULT

(WAWA, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment were called to Michipicoten High School on November 12, 2012 regarding an assault between two students that had occurred on the property.  Police viewed video footage and spoke with witnesses including the victim.  As a result a 15 year old male youth was arrested and charged with assault.  The accused was later released and scheduled to appear in Wawa Youth Criminal Court in January 2013.
