YOUNG OFFENDER ARRESTED FOR BREAK AND ENTER IN GOULAIS

On the 13th of Nov. 2007, at approximately 6:58p.m. residents from the 100 block of Anderson Road in Goulais River returned home from work only to discover that their residence had been broken into.

The culprit had entered the home by prying the basement window open. Once inside, two wooden shelves that were situated on the living room wall holding an assortment of CD's and DVD'S had been knocked down to the floor. The culprit exited the home without taking anything.
Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. were contacted and investigated the incident.

The officers attended the residence and located several footprints at the scene. These footprints lead them to another residence in Goulais River and subsequently, after further investigation a 14 year old youth was arrested.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and in consultation with the victims of the break and enter, the young offender was warned and will perform community service hours in lieu of charges.

PUBLIC ASSISTANCE SOUGHT TO LOCATE LOCAL MISSING YOUTH

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP is requesting the assistance of the public to locate a 14-year-old missing youth.

James YOUNG (14) has been missing since Friday, November 9th, 2007 after an argument with family members. YOUNG is a First Nations youth described as being 5’9” tall, 155 lbs, dark brown hair and brown eyes.

If anyone has any information as to his whereabouts, please contact the East Algoma OPP – Elliot Lake at 1-888-310-1122 or Elliot Lake Children’s Aid society at 705-848-8000.

UPDATE - MAN IN CUSTODY

(POLICE SECURE AREA – EXPECT SCHOOL BUS DELAYS)

(Noëlville) – The situation in Noelville has been resolved peacefully. One man is in custody and there were no injuries to the individual or officers. School buses have left the school and students will return home shortly.

At approximately 2:15 p.m. today, officers responded to a report of a distraught man outside a residence on Notre Dame Street in Noelville. The man was armed and threatening suicide.

The area was secured and as a safety measure, buses were held at Ecole St. Antoine until the situation was resolved.

The area is now opened to traffic and the investigation is continuing.
