Sudbury Man Faces New Additional Charges

(Sudbury, Ont.) The Ontario Provincial Police and Greater Sudbury Police Service are continuing their joint investigation into complaints that young males between the ages of 12 and 21 years had been sexually assaulted between 1972 and 2002.

Investigators have identified thirteen victims and a 61-year-old Sudbury man was charged earlier this year with offences relating to this ongoing investigation.

Today officers arrested Donald Cameron PLAUNT, 61 of Long Lake Road, Sudbury.

PLAUNT has now been charged with the following additional charges, one count of Obstruct Justice and six counts of Breach Of Recognizance.

PLAUNT remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Sudbury on these new additional charges for a bail hearing later this week.

The investigation is continuing under the direction of OPP Detective Inspector Tim Millar, Criminal Investigation Branch.

A preliminary inquiry into the earlier charges is scheduled to begin on May 13, 2005.
