MULTIPLE AGENCIES JOIN IN SEARCH FOR STACEY DELINARDI

The search for Stacey Delinardi continues today with three agencies participating in looking for any clues that may lead to the whereabouts of Mr. Delinardi.

On December 1, 2005 Mr. Delinardi’s car was found abandoned on Connor Road in Duncan Township. He had been reported as missing to the Sault Ste Marie City Police on November 29, 2005.

Fifty five (55) members from the three different agencies are coordinating a ground search in Duncan Twp just northeast of the Sault Ste Marie city limits.

Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team, The City of Sault Ste Marie Police Service Emergency Services Unit and their Containment Team, as well as volunteers from Sault Search and Rescue have commence a search for any signs of Mr. Delinardi.

The search for the thirty one year old Sault Ste Marie resident was started last December. Heavy snowfall at that time hampered the search effort. In early April of this year the OPP helicopter and a member of the OPP Canine Unit searched selected areas of Duncan Twp for the missing man. Last week OPP brought in four members of the Canine Unit to conduct a further search using cadaver dogs. Both efforts failed to turn up any clues to the whereabouts of Mr. Delinardi.

The OPP helicopter is also in the area to assist in the search for Stacey Delinardi. It is expected that when the pilot have completed this search that he will stay in this area to look for another missing person.

On July 24, 2005 forty six year old Noriharu AMANO of Marathon left the Sault Ste Marie airport in his own plane destined for Marathon. He never arrived in Marathon and has not been heard from since. He wasn’t reported missing until August 2, 2005. An extensive ground, air and marine search was conducted and no sign or Mr. Amano or his plane was located. The OPP helicopter is expected to search the area from Hwy 17 east to Searchmont and southeast to Echo Bay for any signs of the missing aircraft.
