CARS Committee Conducts Mock Collision (Desbarats, ON.) –On Wednesday May 11, 2011 the CARS (Central Algoma Road Safety) Committee staged a Mock Collision scene on Kensington Road, Desbarats, Ontario just outside Central Algoma Secondary School.

(Desbarats, ON.) –On Wednesday May 11, 2011 the CARS (Central Algoma Road Safety) Committee staged a Mock Collision scene on Kensington Road, Desbarats, Ontario just outside Central Algoma Secondary School.

The Mock Collision scene was set up in conjunction with the Ontario Provincial Police, Ministry of Transportation, Johnson Fire Department, Algoma Emergency Medical Services, Pineridge Towing and Central Algoma Secondary School (CASS). Set up of the scene commenced at 6:00 a.m. with the events from the Mock collision occurring while buses carrying CASS students from A.J. Bus Lines and Fairview Bus Lines travelled through the scene to the highschool.

The Mock Collision scenario was designed to emphasize the tragic consequences of impaired driving to the students at CASS.

No one was injured in the Mock Collision as it was a staged scene.

At 9:00 a.m. an educational assembly was held that included a guest speaker who was hit by an impaired driver in 2001. The assembly was held to drive home the message of impaired driving to all students and staff.
