ANOTHER EXAMPLE HOW RADAR ENFORCEMENT FINDS MORE THAN SPEEDERS

Heyden, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP have yet another example of how and why radar enforcement finds more than speeders.

Yesterday at about 2:00 p.m. an officer with the Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment was conducting radar patrol on Hwy 556 in Heyden in the area of the Aweres Public School. The officer clocked a westbound vehicle traveling in the school zone at 40 kilometers over the posted speed limit.

The vehicle was pulled over and it was discovered that the driver did not have a licence. Investigation revealed that the operator didn’t have his licence because it was suspended for several reasons. One of his suspensions was in effect as recent as last month when he was convicted on another charge of Driving While Under Suspension.

Thirty one year old Jamie Robert BAILEY, of Sixth Line in Sault Ste Marie, was charged again with Driving While Under Suspension and speeding. He was encouraged to have someone else drive him to court on May 2, 2007.
