Suspicious Building Fire

(Blind River, Ont.) At approximately 1:30 a.m. 23 March 2005 East Algoma O.P.P. were alerted to a fire in an unoccupied building at 10 Murray St. in Blind River.

Blind River Fire department responded to the call and extinguished the blaze before it got out of hand. The building did sustain an undetermined amount of fire, smoke and water damage. This is the second fire in that building since the 26 of August 2004.
The office of the fire marshal is not assisting at the scene in this investigation. Police are asking anyone with information about this or other fires in the area to call them at 1-888-310-1122

Altercation at Local High School Leads to Charges

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The OPP have concluded their investigation in regards to an altercation that occurred in the parking lot of a local high school on March 21st, 2005.

Charged with Assault is Richard Hamilton (18) of Elliot Lake. Hamilton is scheduled to appear in court on May 3rd, 2005.
