Update – Ski Hill (Elliot Lake, Ont.) Police continue their investigation on the Break and Enter at the Mount Dufour Ski Hill. Taken during the break and enter was a 2005 Yellow Skandic Ski Doo Fan 550. The snowmobile has no stickers or numbers.

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) Police continue their investigation on the Break and Enter at the Mount Dufour Ski Hill.

Taken during the break and enter was a 2005 Yellow Skandic Ski Doo Fan 550. The snowmobile has no stickers or numbers. A switch is present on the dash board activating a forward beep alarm.

Decision In Fatal Collision Due March 23

(Desbarats, Ontario) Superior Court Judge Gladys Pardue will deliver her decision on March 23, 2005 in the fatal collision that occurred on March 6, 2003 that claimed the life of sixteen-year-old Joshua Brockelbank of Echo Bay, Ontario.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Main Street and Highway 17 just east of Desbarats, Ontario. Four other students: Jake King, Erin Trivers, Brianna Bordeleau, and Kyle Brick all of Thessalon, Ontario were injured in the collision.

Chad Lubjenka of Durham, Ontario faces charges of Criminal Negligence Causing Death and 4 counts of Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm. The trial was held over a two-week period in January 2005.

The decision will be heard in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario at the Ontario Court of Justice at 2:30 pm.

Theft Reports

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma is currently investigating two separate theft reports.

Sometime between the 14th of March 2005 at 9:00 a.m. and the 15th of March 2005 9:00 a.m. unknown person(s) entered an unlocked vehicle in the parking lot of 145 Mississauga Ave and stole a Motomaster Eliminator.

In the early evening of March 15th, 2005 unknown person(s) entered the male change room at the local municipal pool on Mississauga Ave and stole a wallet. The wallet contained personal pictures, driver’s licence, a debit card and health card. No money was in the wallet.

Police would like to remind everyone to make sure their vehicle is always locked and to not leave personal items unattended in public areas.

Break and Enter

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On March 15th, 2005 at approximately 11:50 p.m. unknown person(s) broke into the utility shed located at Mount Dufour Ski Hill. Once inside the culprit(s) stole a 2005 Yellow Ski Doo Skandic 550 Fan bearing Ontario Licence # 941064. The suspect(s) also gained access to the chalet and stole money. Investigation continuing.
