MALE FACING NUMEROUSE CHARGES (Blind River, ON.) – On June 8, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. the resident of an apartment on Woodward Ave in Blind River hear a knock at her door.

MALE FACING NUMEROUSE CHARGES

(Blind River, ON.) – On June 8, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. the resident of an apartment on Woodward Ave in Blind River hear a knock at her door.  As she began to open the door a male forced his way into the apartment and refused requests to leave.  An altercation between the two ensued and the male left.   Officers from the Blind River OPP detachment arrived on the scene located and arrested the suspect a short distance away.  During the arrest the male became uncooperative with police which resulted in additional charges.  Charged is 26 year old Ryan Ross CHIBLOW of Mississauga First Nation. Chiblow is charged with the following criminal offences.

1) Breach of recognizance
2) Breach of probation
3) Forcible entry
4) Break and enter dwelling house
5) Unlawfully in a dwelling house
6) Assault
7) Possession of Marijuana under 30 grams
8) Robbery with violence
9) Obstruct/resist peace officer

Chiblow was sent to Sault Ste Marie for a bail hearing.

STUNT DRIVER CHARGED

(WAWA, ON.) – On June 12, 2011 Superior East OPP in Wawa were patrolling northbound on Highway 17 south of Wawa in Giles Township.  A southbound Toyota Camry bearing Ontario licence plates was noted travelling at a high rate of speed and was subsequently stopped.  The male driver was advised of the infraction and as a result Shahab KHAYYER, age 21 of North York, Ontario stands charged with “Stunt Driving” contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.  His Ontario Driver’s Licence was seized for 7 days.  The vehicle he was operating was also seized for 7 days.   The accused will appear in Wawa Traffic Court on August 16, 2012 to answer to the charge.

UTTERING THREATS CHARGES FOR LOCAL MALE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – Officers of the East Algoma OPP in Elliot Lake received a call on June 10th, 2012 at approximately 2:39 a.m. to attend a social function on Hillside Drive North.  On scene police were asked to remove a male party.

The subject was asked to leave but allegedly refused.  He was arrested and transported to the Elliot Lake Detachment.

The accused while in custody allegedly threatened a member of the OPP.

Charged with Uttering Threats is Trevor Michel Joseph NADON (19) of Elliot Lake.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on August 7, 2012.

LOCAL MALE CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – June 7th, 2012 at approximately 9:15 p.m., the East Algoma OPP received information regarding a possible sexual assault in the bush area of Spine Road in Elliot Lake.

Police attended the area and when on scene, received information that the possible victim was at the police detachment requesting to speak with an officer.

Through investigation police have charged a local male.

Charged with Sexual Assault is David Monteith EBENEAU (29) of Elliot Lake.

The accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing in Sault Ste Marie.

STOP!  FOR SCHOOL BUSES!

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – The East Algoma OPP would like to remind all drivers to always stop for school buses.  It is the law!

Motorists are reminded to keep a safe distance away from a stopped school bus with the red overhead lights flashing and stop arm extended.  When you are following a school bus, Ontario law requires you stop 20 meters behind the bus and when meeting a school bus in oncoming traffic, stop far enough away to allow students to cross the road well ahead of the bus bumper. 

On June 7th, 2012 police received a complaint of a vehicle not stopping for a school bus on Frobel Drive.  Police investigated and charged a 79 year old male driver with failing to stop for a school bus.

The set fine under the Highway Traffic Act is $400.00 and 6 demerit points.
