KEEP ROAD AND WATER SAFETY IN MIND THIS LONG WEEKEND!

(East Algoma OPP) The East Algoma OPP has officers focusing on highway traffic patrols and also on waterway patrols this upcoming weekend in making our roads and waterways safer to travel.

Automobile drivers and boat operators are encouraged to take responsibility for their personal safety and that of their family. Make sure that passengers wear seatbelts in the car and personal flotation devices (PFD) while on water. ATV riders must wear helmets, it’s the law.

The OPP also urges everyone to make alcohol a zero factor when out on the waterways. Alcohol mixed with driving, boating and other activities can have dangerous results. If alcohol will be part of your activities, make sure there is a sober driver and plan ahead to have overnight guests or taxi money.
DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE!

Sgt M. Boivin of the East Algoma OPP reminds everyone that “If you are planning on hiking, camping or boating, leave directions and a map in the event a rescue is needed. “

SMART RISKS ARE SAFER!
