DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE! (Blind River, Ontario) – On Monday, July 22, 2013 at 9:40 p.m., East Algoma OPP received a call regarding a possible impaired drive on Lakeside Avenue in Blind River.

(Blind River, Ontario) – On Monday, July 22, 2013 at 9:40 p.m., East Algoma OPP received a call regarding a possible impaired drive on Lakeside Avenue in Blind River.

Police responded and observed the motor vehicle marching the description.  The vehicle was stopped by police.

Through investigation police charged the driver.

Charged with the following is Darrell MACLEAN (52) of Blind River.

  • Impaired Operation
  • Exceed 80

The accused is scheduled to appear in Blind River court on September 5, 2013.

(Cutler, Ontario) – The East Algoma OPP has arrested and charged a female after a routine traffic stop.  On July 20th, 2013 at approximately 2:18 a.m. police stopped a vehicle on We-Gwas Rd, Cutler.

The officer spoke with the driver and requested identification.  Allegedly the driver provided false information.

Charged with the following is Terri-Lynn KUULA (30) of Cutler.

  • Drive Disqualified
  • Personation with Intent
  • Obstruct Police
  • Exceed 80 Milligrams

The accused attended Sault Ste Marie for bail court on July 22, 2014.

MASKED MALE ASSAULTS LOCAL MALE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – The East Algoma OPP received a call of a possible assault on Hirshhorn Ave in Elliot Lake on July 23, 2013 at approximately 8:15 p.m.

Police attended the area and located the victim.  The male victim stated that he and his friend were in his home when someone knocked at the door.  When the door was opened, the suspect wearing a black ski mask entered the residence and started hitting the victim.  The assault continued with the suspect dragging the victim out of the house.  The assault was witnessed by neighbours and police were called.  While police were on route to the scene, the suspect fled the area.

Police immediately patrolled the area and the located the suspect.

Charged with the following is William James MOORE (35) of Serpent River First Nations.

  • Disguise with intent
  • Robbery with intent
  • Obstruct/Resist Police
  • Forcible Entry
  • Breach of Probation

The accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing in Sault Ste Marie.

The victim sustained minor injuries to his head, hands and mouth.

OUTBOARD MOTOR STOLEN

(Blind River, Ontario) – The OPP is currently investigating the theft of an outboard motor from a camp on Cataract Road in Blind River.

Officers spoke with the victim and learned that during the last two weeks unknown person(s) attended the camp and removed a lock on the pump house which provided access to the motor. The stolen motor is described as the following:

  • 9.9 Yamaha outboard motor with an electric start
  • grey in color, in very good condition
  • 1990’s model with an approximate value of $2,500.00

Any information that leads to the arrests or identity of persons responsible can lead to a cash reward. You can remain anonymous and crime stoppers do not subscribe to call display.

THEFT OF TENT TRAILER

(Blind River, Ontario) – In the early morning of July 23, 2013 unknown person(s) attended a resident on Colonization Road in Blind River and removed a tent trailer. 

The victim reports that while on his way to work he noticed a vehicle towing a trailer similar to the one he owned.  He attended the area where the trailer was stored and noted it was missing. The victim then contacted police.

Police immediately patrolled the area with negative results.

The stolen tent trailer is described as the following:

  • 2013 White 8ft Rockwood FRE
  • Licence # K9490Z, Ontario
