MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION – HWY. 144

(SUDBURY, ON) – On July 16, 2013 at 5:30 p.m., officers from the Sudbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a car on Highway 144, City of Greater Sudbury.

Preliminary investigation revealed for unknown reason, the male driver of the northbound motorcycle crossed the centre line and struck a southbound car driven by a female.

The 50-year-old male driver from Azilda, ON was transported to Health Sciences North by ambulance where he remains in critical condition.  The 19-year-old female driver from Levack, ON was not injured.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and an OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator.

The highway was down to one lane while officers conducted their investigation and fully re-opened at approximately 10:00 p.m.
