TRESPASS AND POSSESSION CHARGES (Elliot Lake, Ontario) During the early hours of July 14, 2009 police were called to attend the area of Mississauga Avenue regarding youths attempting to enter vehicles.

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) During the early hours of July 14, 2009 police were called to attend the area of Mississauga Avenue regarding youths attempting to enter vehicles.

Patrol of the immediate area was conducted and police located a youth in the yard of a residence on Bouck Rd. The suspect ran from the residence and police located the suspect at a residence on Roman Avenue. During the search of the suspect police located Cannabis.

Charged with the following is a 17-year-old male youth.

Trespass/Prowl near dwelling house
Possession of Cannabis – under 30 grams

The name of the accused will not be released as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The accused was in custody awaiting a bail hearing on July 14, 2009.

PEOPLE! LOCK YOUR VEHICLES

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) The East Algoma OPP in Elliot Lake is currently investigating several thefts from unlocked vehicles.

On July 8th, 2009 between 11:00 p.m. and July 9th, 2009 7:00 a.m. unknown persons entered an unlocked vehicle on McKeown Rd in Elliot Lake and stole a pair of sunglasses. Also cigarettes, a CD and loose change were taken from an unlocked vehicle on Bracken Place. On Brown Rd again an unlocked vehicle was entered and a cheque was stolen.

On July 10, 2009 a vehicle parked on Roman Avenue was entered, stolen was loose change and cigarettes.

July 12, 2009 between 8:00 p.m. and July 13, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. unknown persons entered an unlocked vehicle on Stevens Road and stole a Canadian Tire Gift Card.

Once again, on July 14, 2009 police received 2 complaints of an unlocked vehicles on Mississauga Avenue being entered but nothing was missing. Also a vehicle on Capital Place was entered and loose change was taken.

THE OPP REMINDS EVERYONE TO ALWAYS LOCK YOUR VEHILCE WHEN PARKED AND UNTATTENDED.

UNATTENDED VEHICLE DAMAGED

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) Police are currently investigating the report of a mischief to a vehicle.

On July 10, 2009 at approximately 9:00 a.m. police attended a parking lot at a local high school in Elliot Lake. Investigation revealed that unknown person(s) damaged a vehicle by using a sharp object. Damage was done to the hood and drivers side of the vehicle.

BROKEN WINDOW

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) On the 12th of July 2009 police attended a local high school to investigate a broken window.

On scene police learned that sometime overnight someone broke the exterior pane of a door window situated at the entrance of the Technical Wing of the school.

TWO LOCAL MALES CHARGED

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) On July 10, 2009 at approximately 11:52 a.m. officers of the East Algoma OPP received a call to attend a residence on Kain Crescent regarding a possible assault.

Police attended the residence and spoke with the victim. During the course of the investigation, police learned that one of the suspects had allegedly assaulted the victim on June 20th, 2009.

Police located and arrested both suspects.

Charged with Assault with a Weapon is David JENKINS (18) of Elliot Lake.

Also charged with the following is Raymond YOUNG (18) of Elliot Lake.

Assault with a Weapon (2 counts)
Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm

Both JENKINS and YOUNG are scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on September 1, 2009.

MANITOULIN OPP INVESTIGATE PAVING FRAUD

COMPLAINTS ABOUT PAVING COMPANY LEADS TO INVESTIGATION


(Manitoulin Island, Ont.) – Manitoulin O.P.P. is presently investigating fraud complaints from residents of Manitoulin that had work done from a paving company. The company reported as WBP INC. based out of London, Ontario was on Manitoulin Island in late June and early July approaching many homes and businesses to have paving done.

Investigation has revealed that the prices quoted for work completed varied extensively from client to client. Upon trying to contact the company there is no answer on the phone number left behind and a check of receipts left no personal information as to names etc of the workers involved.

Paving that has now been completed is being checked to see the quality of work involved. Anyone that has had contact or is concerned is asked to call the OPP who are presently investigating the company. It is believed that the company has left the island and is heading to Wawa or Thunder Bay area.

Constable Allan Boyd Community Services Officer for the Manitoulin O.P.P. advises that the public need to be a ware that companies that knock on your door offering a service it is up to the buyer to be on the alert. People should be checking references and make sure the contact information is secure. You should be concerned if the company only asks for cash and has no other payment methods.
