Damaged Door (Elliot Lake, Ont.) On Friday 23 Dec. 05 person or persons unknown kicked in a door at George Walk address. Sometime between 11:00 p.m. on the 22 nd of December and 8:00 a.m.

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On Friday 23 Dec. 05 person or persons unknown kicked in a door at George Walk address.
Sometime between 11:00 p.m. on the 22 nd of December and 8:00 a.m. on the 23 rd December a door in an upper apartment at 8 George Walk in Elliot Lake was kicked in. Police and Owner of the building have no leads in this case.
Damage to the door was estimated at approximately $500.

Owner Alarmed at Break-In

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) A local business owner was alerted to a break-in at his business because of an alarm and caught the culprit in the premises.
On the 27 December 2005 just after 9:00 p.m. an alarm at Jessie’s Towing at 8 Perini Rd. in Elliot Lake alerted the owner to a break-in. He responded to find a person behind the counter. Police arrived and arrested the culprit.
Charged with Break and Entry with Intent to Commit an Offence is :
49-year-old Marc Louis PETIT of 15 Balsam Place Elliot Lake, Ont.
PETIT was released on his own recognizance and is to appear in Court in Elliot Lake on 07 Feb.06
Dumbbell Theft
(Blind River, Ont.) On Friday 23rd Dec. 05 East Algoma O.P.P. were alerted to a dumbbell theft from the Blind River Fitness Centre.
Staff from the Fitness center were checking the equipment and notice two sets of dumbbells missing from the rack.
Police and staff have no suspects at this time and are hoping the public can determine where the dumbbells are !!!!!

Assault
(Mississauga First Nation Territory) On 27 Dec.05 East Algoma O.P.P. were responding to a report of assault on the Mississauga First nation . After receiving a report of a man having been assaulted in his residence and the names and description of the two suspects Police went on patrol to locate them. A short time later Police came upon two intoxicated persons who fit the description of the suspects. While questioning them and arresting them another family member who interfered with the arrest and began assaulting one of the arresting officers interrupted them. After a short scuffle all three parties were given lodging at the East Algoma O.P.P. lock up for the night.
Charged with Being Intoxicated in Public is: 57-year-old Adam DEBASSIGE of 67 Lakeshore Rd M’Chigeeng, On. He was ticketed and released in the a.m.
Charged with Assault and Being Intoxicated in Public is: 25-year-old Junior Norman DEBASSIGE of 67 Lakeshore Dr. M’Chigeeng, On.
Charged with: Assaulting a Peace Officer and Assault with intent to resist Arrest is: a 31-year-old woman [charges withdrawn] of Mississauga First Nation Territory, Ontario
Junior and a woman [charges withdrawn] were released on Promise to Appear and are to appear in Court in Blind River on 02 Feb. 2006
HORSE CARRIAGE HIT BY CAR ON HIGHWAY 17
(Desbarats, Ontario) On Monday December 26, 2005 shortly before 11:00 am a horse carriage was hit by a motor vehicle traveling eastbound on Highway 17 at MacLennan Road, approximately 1 kilometer west of the St. Joseph Island turnoff.
An eastbound Mennonite horse carriage was being operated on the eastbound shoulder of Highway 17 when it was hit from behind on the left side of the carriage by an eastbound car. The eastbound car sustained damage to the right side of the car. The carriage broke in two with the floor and walls of the carriage remaining intact. The horses pulled the carriage across the two eastbound lanes to the north shoulder where the horses broke free.
The driver of the carriage Jesse BRUBACHER (18) and one passenger Annie HOOVER (9) both of Desbarats, Ontario remained in the carriage and received minor scrapes. Another passenger Alvin HOOVER (7) of Desbarats, Ontario was thrown from the carriage on impact out onto the highway and received minor bruising to his knees.
The driver of the car Kauko RIIPPI (80) and Aino RIIPPI (80) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario did not receive any injuries.
Kauko RIIPPI has been charged with “Fail to turn out to left to avoid a collision” under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
The horses fled on Highway 17 onto McKnight Road (east of the collision) where they were captured and returned to the Hoover farm.
