COOKING FIRE DESTROYS ONE HOME- DAMAGES OTHERS
Heyden, Ont.

A house fire early this morning has destroyed one home and damaged the exterior of a second house and neighbouring garage.

At about 1:00 this morning, the Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. and the Aweres Township Fire Department were called to the Fisher Trailer Park on Trout Lake Road in Heyden. A trailer home was fully engulfed in flames. All occupants of the house escaped without injury.

Theinvestigation has revealed that a pot was mistakenly left on the stove and caught fire. A second occupant of the house was in the bedroom and could smell smoke. When the two came out of the bedroom the house was filled with smoke and the two fled the building.

The house was quickly engulfed in flames. The Aweres Twp. Fire Department and Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. were called to the scene. There was little that could be done to save the home. The Aweres Township Fire Department is being credited for saving two neighbouring homes from extensive damage.

A neighbouring home and a garage was slightly damaged but were saved from catching fire.

The occupants of the house had no insurance on any of the contents. Everything they own was destroyed in the blaze.
