BUCKLE UP

OPP 2010 SPRING SEATBELT CAMPAIGN HAS BUGUN

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) – The 2010 Spring Beat Belt Campaign will begin today and run until Saturday, April 24h.

It only takes two seconds to buckle up and everybody knows wearing a seatbelt can save your life. Based on Ontario’s collision data, unbelted drivers are nearly 38 more times more likely to be killed than belted drivers in similar collisions. But did you know that wearing a seatbelt isn’t just about you.

In a crash, unbelted backseat passengers can become high-speed projectiles and can injure or kill other people in the vehicle.

Wearing a seatbelt is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself and others in a motor vehicle collision.

In less than 24 hours a 24 year old male and a 23 year old female died here in the Northeast Region as a result of not wearing a seatbelt.

Seatbelts saves lives. What’s holding you back?
