OPASATIKA - A police officer narrowly avoided a head-on collision with a transport making an unsafe pass on Highway 11.
A video of the incident that happened on March 30 around 7:30 a.m. on Highway 11 in Opasatika, which is located between Kapuskasing and Hearst, has been released by OPP.
It shows three transports heading in the same direction on a two-lane stretch of highway. The last transport in the convoy moves into the oncoming lane of traffic, where the OPP cruiser is, to pass the other commercial motor vehicles (CMV). The driver of the cruiser hit the shoulder of the road, narrowly avoiding a head-on collision.
The 36-year-old driver of the CMV was charged with careless driving, said police on social media.
"Drive responsibly and respect the safety of all road users. Stay safe out there, everyone," wrote OPP.
