An Elliot Lake man is being accused of harassing a neighbour for the second time.

The first incident took place four months ago on Nov. 7, 2024.

Ontario Provincial Police say the complainant reported a neighbour from Mississauga Avenue aggressively followed them in their vehicle, passing dangerously while verbally berating and giving them the middle finger.

David Michael Dawson, 42, from Elliot Lake was charged with criminal harassment, resisting a peace officer and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

On Friday, March 7 at around 10:45 a.m., the complainant reported being harassed and threatened again by the same person.

OPP pulled the suspect over on Highway 108 at around 1 p.m. that afternoon.

“The person was very uncooperative with police again, refusing to listen and follow simple instructions,” police alleged in a news release.

“They had to be physically extracted from the black pickup truck to ensure officer and public safety and effectively make the arrest.”

Dawson is now being charged with

  • Criminal harassment - repeatedly communicate
  • Resist peace officer
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order
  • Breach of Recognizance

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
