Victim identified in single-vehicle crash south of Wawa

The male from Brampton, Ontario was pronounced deceased at the scene; Four other occupants were uninjured

On Monday, Aug. 6, 2019 at 12:44 a.m. members of the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the Algoma Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Wawa Fire Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 approximately 30 kilometres south of Wawa, Ontario.

The investigation has revealed that a south bound single motor vehicle left the roadway striking a rock cut. Four occupants of the motor vehicle were uninjured however, Choudhry Nouman Ahmed Tariq, 41-year-old male from Brampton, Ontario was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The OPP Technical Collision Investigators are continuing their investigation.
