The victim of a fatal collision that occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Algoma Mills has been identified as a Manitoulin Island resident in a news release issued by the the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
The release states that 62-year-old Dennis Zarvie of Mindemoya died after his pickup truck left Highway 17 and rolled into a ditch onto its roof.

TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE - On March 29, 2022, shortly after 3:00 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and local First Responders responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 in Algoma Mills where a pickup truck was travelling westbound when it left the highway and rolled onto its roof in the south side ditch. The unidentified driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
On March 31, 2022, a post-mortem examination took place in Sault Ste. Marie at the Centre of Forensic Sciences (CFS) and the deceased driver has been identified as Dennis Zarvie, 62 years of age from Mindemoya [Manitoulin Island].
The investigation is ongoing with the OPP's North East Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME) and the Technical Collision Investigators (TCI).
