UPDATE: Road reopens as vehicle fire on Hwy. 17 at Trout Lake cleared

Ontario 511 saying incident cleared as of around 5:05 p.m.

UPDATE 2:

Hwy. 17 has fully reopened north of the Sault after a vehicle fire this afternoon.

As of around 5:05 p.m., Ontario 511 was reporting an incident that had fully closed the road at around 2 p.m. was now cleared.

UPDATE 1:

Ontario 511 is reporting only one lane is closed after a truck fire on Hwy. 17 north of the Sault impacted travel earlier this afternoon.

At around 4:45 p.m., the traffic info service was reporting that a lane and the west (northbound) shoulder remained closed.

The fire earlier had resulted in the road being closed in both directions.

Photos from near the scene showed smoke coming from a vehicle fire.

ORIGINAL REPORT:

A vehicle fire on Highway 17 north of the Sault has shut down the highway in both directions at Trout Lake Road.

Ontario 511 reports that all lanes in both directions were closed shortly before 2 p.m.
