NUMEROUS CHARGES LAID OVER LABOUR DAY WEEKEND (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) – Sault Ste. Marie OPP were out in full force this past Labour Day weekend on Highway both East and North of the City.
NUMEROUS CHARGES LAID OVER LABOUR DAY WEEKEND

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) – Sault Ste. Marie OPP were out in full force this past Labour Day weekend on Highway both East and North of the City.

The following charges were laid:

(3) Three Day Licence Suspensions were issued for Drinking and Driving

(2) Charges for Driving Under Suspension

(103) Charges were issued under the Highway Traffic Act for various offences including speeding and seatbelt usage

(2) Charges were laid under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

(3) Charges were laid under the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario

THREE BREAK AND ENTER’S REPORTED

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) - Three break and enter’s were reported to OPP over the weekend.

One occurred on Lower Island Lake Road in Aweres Township.

One occurred in the 100 block of Best Road in Goulais River. Jewellery, a flat screen television with DVD player was stolen.

A break- in to a home in the 500 block of Frontenac St. on the Batchewana First Nation at 10:30 p.m. Sunday evening was discovered by the owner who was sleeping in the residence at the time.

Two suspects fled the residence on bicycles. One suspect is believed to be female, approximately 5’3” tall wearing dark pants and a jacket.

FEMALE ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT

(Macdonald Twp., ON) – On Saturday, September 5th, 2009 an altercation took place between two females at a residence in the 100 block of Lake St. in Echo Bay.

The victim was punched in the face by the accused after a verbal argument had taken place.

OPP were called to the scene.

Arrested and charged with one count of assault is 34 year old Krista Ferguson of 20 Lake Street in Echo Bay, Ontario.

Ferguson was released on a Promise to Appear for Court in Sault Ste. Marie on the 19th October, 2009.

MALE CHARGED WITH ASSAULT ON HYDRO EMPLOYEE

(Northshore Twp, ON.) On September 3, 2009 East Algoma OPP were called to Highway 538 in the Northshore Twp after a Hydro employee was assaulted. The Hydro employee was in the area conducting SMART meter installations. After advising a home owner that the power would be shut off briefing, they got upset as they were in the middle of doing something that required power. After the new meter was installed the employee was met outside by a male who began arguing with her which resulted in the Hydro employee being assaulted by the male. Charged with assault is 73 year old Yves LECOARER of Northshore Twp. LECOARER is scheduled to appear in Blind River court on November 5, 2009.
