(Elliot Lake, Ont.) An officer with the East Algoma OPP arrested and charged a male driver after a traffic stop on August 30, 2008.

While on general patrol at approximately 2:41 a.m. police noticed a vehicle drive through a stop sign. Police stopped the vehicle and the driver was charged.

Charged with Exceed 80 mg is Michael Patrick MORIN (28) of Sudbury. MORIN is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on November 4, 2008.

DAMAGE TO LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) August 29, 2008 police received a call to attend a local high school in Elliot Lake regarding a possible mischief to the school.

On scene police learned that at approximately 10:30 p.m. an outdoor surveillance camera had been damage. The video was viewed and police charged the following.

Charged with Mischief Under $5,000.00 is Derek DOBRATZ (18) of Elliot Lake. DOBRATZ is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on October 7th, 2008.

Also charged with Mischief Under $5,000.00 is a 16-year-old male. The accused is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on October 7th, 2008.

The name of the 16-year-old male will not be released under the jurisdiction of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

NOISE COMPLAINT LEADS TO CHARGES FOR LOCAL FEMALE

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) August 31, 2008 at 1:48 a.m. officers of the East Algoma OPP attended a residence on Hillside Drive South regarding a noise complaint.

Upon arrival, police noted that the music was very loud. The resident of the house was advised to turn the music down. Upon officers leaving the residence the accused became upset and turned the music up while to yelling at officers.

Officers returned to the residence and the accused was placed under arrest for Mischief by interfering with other person lawful enjoyment of their property.

Charged is Angela LYNCH (28) of Elliot Lake. LYNCH is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on November 4, 2008.

Numerous Animal Collisions

Sault Ste Marie Detachment are warning all motorist to be on the lookout for animals on the Hwy’s after 5 animal related collisions over the long weekend. Police investigated 3 Deer, one bear and one beaver collisions. All the animals were killed and no one injured. The crashes occurred on Hwy# 17 E and North as well as one on Hwy# 552 where a beaver pulling a small tree across the road was stuck.

Holiday Weekend Traffic Blitz Results in Numerous Traffic Charges

Sault Ste Marie Detachment and Highway Safety Division officers combined efforts in traffic enforcement resulted in 108 traffic related charges. Most charges were for speeding. In addition officers laid seatbelt , radar warning device and no insurance charges. One Stunt driving charge for driving 145 in a posted 90 zone was laid on Hwy# 17 E in MacDonald Twp. On September 1st at 2:42 p.m. Charged with Stunt driving is Christina R Belleau age 38 of 180 White Birch Dr Garden River. Belleau’s vehicle was impounded for 7 days and her license was suspended for 7 days.

Two Impaired Drivers Charged

1) 29 August at 7:50 p.m. OPP officers were driving on Allen Side Rd in the City of Sault Ste Marie when a south bound vehicle was pulled over for erratic driving. The operator of the vehicle was found to be impaired. Charge with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit is Mario Philip Bruni-Pagnotta age 40 of 513 Allen Side Road Sault Ste Marie. Mr. Bruni- Pagnotta’s blood alcohol level exceeded 150 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.

2) On the 30th at 3:00 a.m. of August Sault Ste Marie Detachment officers pulled over a vehicle which was seen driving slowly behind Dinnels Grocery in Echo Bay . The vehicle was stopped on Church st and the driver found to be impaired. Charged with impaired driving and driving over the legal limit is Joseph Jarell age 48 of 375 Watsons Road Echo Bay. Jarell’s breath reading were greater than 240 mg%. In addition Jarell’s license was under suspension at the time of this incident and he has been charged under the Highway traffic act for Driving Under Suspension.
