(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – The East Algoma OPP was very busy the first week of school patrolling to ensure all children have a safe back to school.

During the first week back to school patrols, officers charged 15 drivers with speeding offences.

Drivers are reminded to slow down in School Zones. Regardless the time of day, or the day of the week. The speed is 40 kms … SLOW DOWN!

Things to remember!

Watch for School Crossing Guards.

Obey the flashing red lights on the Big Yellow School Buses.

Watch for children walking to and from school.

STOLEN PROPERTY RECOVERED

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – On September 9th, 2011 at approximately 12:57 p.m. the East Algoma OPP responded to a call at a local Furniture and Pawn shop on Charles Walk in Elliot Lake regarding possible stolen property.

Investigation revealed that the item had been taken earlier in the day from a store on Ontario Avenue. Officers also located a knife with the suspect.

Charged with the following is James Douglas KETTLEY (18) of Elliot Lake.

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000.

Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

The accused remains in Sault Ste Marie awaiting a bail hearing.
