IROQUOIS FALLS OPP LAY CRIMINAL HARASSMENT CHARGE

(IRQOUOIS FALLS) – An officer with the Iroquois Falls OPP has charged a local resident with a Criminal Harassment, Breach of Probation and Prostitution related offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada stemming from a complaint received by the Ontario Provincial Police on October 6th in the town of Iroquois Falls. 

The OPP were called in to investigate the matter where a person is alleged to have repeatedly followed and propositioned a person for a sexual purpose.

The suspect was located and arrested and held for a bail hearing.

Ubald THERIAULT, 85, of Iroquois Falls has been charged with:

  • Criminal Harassment contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • Communicating for the Purpose of Prostitution contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • 4 counts of Fail to Comply with a Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He remains in custody and must attend Provincial Court in Timmins on October 8th for the purposes of a bail hearing.

SOUTH PORCUPINE OPP CHARGE SUSPENDED DRIVER

(SOUTH PORCUPINE) – An officer with the South Porcupine Ontario Provincial Police has charged a Timmins man with Driving Under Suspension stemming from a routine traffic stop on October 4th, 2013.

The OPP officer had occasion to stop the driver of a 2009 GMC SUV for an alleged traffic violation on Hwy 101 west of Timmins.

Based on the routine investigative steps taken by the OPP officer, it was determined that the driver is currently under suspension in the province of Ontario.

Jonathan DESCHENES, 24, of Timmins, Ontario, has been charged with Driving While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

DESCHENES is required to attend Provincial Court in Timmins on November 14th to answer to the charge laid against him.

The vehicle was driven from the scene by a licenced driver

.TOWN OF CHAPLEAU VICTIMIZED

Graffiti Mischief on Public and Private Properties

(CHAPLEAU, ON) - The Superior East Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Chapleau Detachment are currently investigating a series of mischiefs committed throughout the community overnight on October 4, 2013.  Suspects sprayed graffiti at numerous locations in the town of Chapleau.  The graffiti contained vulgar messages and indecent images in yellow, dark and light green spray paint.

The victimized locations included numerous residences and vehicles on the following streets; Pine St, Richard St and Beech St.  Other properties that were targeted include the Chapleau bridge, the Chapleau Real Estate building, St. John’s Anglican Church, The Chapleau Public School, the pedestrian overpass and the sidewalk on Martel Road.

OPP CONDUCTING A MURDER INVESTIGATION IN ESTAIRE

(ESTAIRE, ON) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a 9-1-1 call shortly after 4:00pm on October 7, 2013 at a residence on Elbow Ridge Road in Estaire. Officers located a female victim inside with serious injuries. Emergency Medical Services responded. However, the victim succumbed to her injuries.

The investigation is being treated as a murder.

Members of the Sudbury OPP Crime Unit are investigating with the assistance of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) under the direction of Detective Inspector Mike Bickerton.
