BREAK AND ENTERS REPORTED TO COTTAGES

(Aberdeen Township, Ontario) On Saturday October 27, 2007 the East Algoma Thessalon OPP received a complaint of a break and enter to a cottage located on Old Mill Beach, Aberdeen Township, Ontario (North of Bruce Mines, Ontario)

A check of the surrounding cottages revealed two additional break and enters. The break and enters occurred between Wednesday October 24 – Saturday October 27, 2007.

Items taken include:

Liquor
VCR’s and tapes
DVD Player and DVD’s
Tools
TV’s
Fishing Rods and Tackle

The approximate dollar amount of the items stolen is $2000. The dollar amount of damage to the cottages is approximately $1500.

GARDEN RIVER CRASH SENDS TWO TO HOSPITAL

(Garden River First Nation, Ont.) A two vehicle crash on Hwy 17 in Garden River last night sent two people to Sault Area Hospital.

Last night at about 9:15 p.m. several vehicles were traveling west on Hwy 17 in Garden River close to the Root River Bridge. A car was stopped on Hwy 17 waiting for other traffic to turn left of the roadway. The driver of a second vehicle, a mini van, was unable to stop and ran into the back of the car.

The driver of the mini van and a passenger in the van were taken to Sault Area Hospital by ambulance. They were treated for what has been described as minor injuries.

The driver of the mini van, an eighty two (82) year old Sault Ste Marie man, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Follow Too Close. Both vehicles had major damage and had to be towed from the scene.
