HOME SECURITY A CONCERNS FOR ALL OF US!

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The City of Elliot Lake has recently being subject of a rash of break and enters.

Unknown person(s) entered homes when the homeowners were away but also has/have entered homes while the occupants were in the residence.

The East Algoma OPP would like to remind all citizens to secure all windows and doors. Draw window shades or drapes after dark and don’t leave accessible windows open when you’re away or asleep. Make sure your home looks occupied, even when it’s not.

The following are ideas to help make your home safe;

- bright lighting – leave the outside lights on at night
- doors and windows are sturdy and solid
- all doors and windows have good locks
- house is well exposed and landscaping does not screen doors or windows
- leave lights, TV and/or radio on when away from your home
- an alarm for your home
- a dog present in your home

Personal safety is a concern for all of us. Be aware of your surroundings at all times and if you see something suspicious in your neighbourhood, call police.

Anyone with information regarding the break and enters is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-705-942-7867 Or 1-800-222-8477.
