TRACTOR/TRAILER ROLLS HIGHWAY 17 NORTH

(White River)- On November 24, 2009 at approximately 3:30 am Superior East officers in White River were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on Highway 17 at Fungus Lake approximately 40 kilometres south of White River. A northbound tractor trailer lost control on a curve causing the unit to leave the roadway rolling over into the north ditch. The lone driver of the vehicle received minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Lady Dunn Hospital in Wawa for treatment and then released. As a result of investigation at the scene, William DOWN, age 34 of Hamilton, Ontario has been charged with “Fail to Drive in Marked Lane” under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. Motorists are advised that there will be periodic delays throughout the day while the unit is removed from the ditch.
