ATTEMPT BREAK IN (Blind River, ON.) – On Friday evening May 1st around 11:30 p.m. suspects attended Tulloch’s Automotive in Blind River. While there a window at the rear of the building was broken in an attempt to gain entry.

(Blind River, ON.) – On Friday evening May 1st around 11:30 p.m. suspects attended Tulloch’s Automotive in Blind River. While there a window at the rear of the building was broken in an attempt to gain entry. The alarm sounded which scared off the suspects and alerted police who attended and verified the attempt break in. The OPP Canine Unit attended and searched the area with negative results.

Police are asking anyone who may have information regarding this or any other crime to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

BEACH PARTY LEADS TO ARREST AND CHARGES

(Blind River, ON.) – On Friday evening May 1st while on patrol officers from the East Algoma Blind River OPP detachment observed several cars in the parking lot at Huron Beach also known as 4th Sand Beach. Before they could check the area police were called away. At 12:30 a.m. police re-attended the beach area and located an intoxicated youth. The 16 year old male from Mississauga First Nation who can not be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and for consuming alcohol in a public place. The youth was held in custody overnight until he was sober then released to his parents.

Police want to remind everyone that consuming alcohol in other than licensed premises, residence or private place is not permitted according to the Liquor Licence Act. Also according the Blind River By-Law 1737 Section (4) no one is permitted on Municipal Recreational Property after 10:00 p.m. This includes parks, playgrounds and BEACHES (Boom Camp, 3rd Sand, 4th Sand). Anyone found in contravention of the by-law could face a $305.00 fine.
