MALE ARRESTED ON OUTSTANDING WARRANT (Blind River, ON.) – On May 3, 2010 at 9:00 p.m. East Algoma OPP received a call of an unwanted person at a residence on Cobden Street in Blind River.
MALE ARRESTED ON OUTSTANDING WARRANT

(Blind River, ON.) – On May 3, 2010 at 9:00 p.m. East Algoma OPP received a call of an unwanted person at a residence on Cobden Street in Blind River. Upon arrival police learned that two unknown males entered the caller’s house but they did not know who the males were. Officers were provided with a description of the suspects and located them walking on Causley Street. When speaking with the males it was evident that one of them was intoxicated. A further check revealed that there were also two warrants for his arrest for previous unrelated incidents. The male was arrested and transported to the OPP detachment. As a result 47 year old Peter Howard SCOTT of Elliot Lake has been charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling house, section 349(1) Criminal Code and being intoxicated in a public place, section 31(4) Liquor Licence Act. HOWARD is being held for a bail hearing in Sault Ste Marie on May 4, 2010. The second male was not charged.

ASSAULT WITH WEAPON

(WHITE RIVER, ON.) – On May 3, 2010 at 9:00 pm Superior East OPP in White River responded to a complaint regarding a male reporting that a second male was attempting to break into the complainant’s residence on Allaire Street by knocking down the door with an axe and had allegedly attempted to strike the victim with the same axe. Police immediately responded and upon arrival found the axe sitting on the front deck and the door window had been smashed. Investigation revealed that prior to police arrival an altercation had occurred. It was further learned that to defend himself from the axe, the complainant had thrown a vacuum cleaner through the door window striking the suspect at the door, knocking him to the ground enabling the axe to be removed from his possession. The victim jumped on the suspect to prevent him from retrieving the axe. The two males then separated and the suspect left the area. The suspect received a broken nose during this altercation. The suspect, Rodney SAUNDERS age 40 of White River, Ontario was subsequently arrested at his residence and charged with the following offences;
(1) Break and Enter with intent to commit an indictable offence;
(2) Assault with a Weapon;
(3) Possess Dangerous Weapon;
(4) Mischief under $5000.00.
The accused was treated at Lady Dunn Hospital for his injury and subsequently transferred to Sault Ste Marie for a Bail Hearing.

MISCHIEF TO PROPERTY

(Dennis Twp., ON.) – A camp in the 800 block of Lakeshore Drive in Dennis Township was damaged within the last week.

Lawn ornaments were broken and the front yard torn up by what appears to be a dirt bike.

BICYCLE RODEO

HELEMT SAFETY INSPECTION


(LAIRD TWP., ON) - The Sault Ste. Marie OPP along with Child Care Algoma and CAPC (Community Action Program for Children) will be hosting a Bike Rodeo and Helmet Safety Inspection today in the parking lot of Laird Central Public School.

The Bike Rodeo will be taking place from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and there will be prizes for all children.

All Rodeo participants must wear a helmet to participate.

Staff will be on hand to assist with proper helmet fitting.
