Motor Vehicle Crash Sends Two to Hospital

Sault Ste Marie OPP are investigating a crash between a Sander and a Volkswagon Jetta that occurred at 11:00 a.m. at the intersection of Hwy#17 at Hwy# 638 in Echo Bay. The sander was proceeding across the 4 lane section of Hwy# 17 and was struck by a west bound Jetta. The driver of the car Trevor Stinson of Richards Landing suffered very serious injuries and his 11 year old female passenger has been treated and released from the hospital. Police at the scene of the collision are crediting the wearing of seatbelts with saving the lives of the occupants of the car. The driver of the sander was not injured. Charged with fail to yield to traffic on though highway contrary to section 136(1)(b) of the Highway Traffic Act is Clifford Paul Maceachern age 38 of Echo Bay.
